America More Involved in Ukraine War Than Previously Indicated

( — February 24, 2023, marked the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since then, thousands of people on both sides have perished, and numerous cities in Ukraine have been destroyed. Families have endured unimaginable losses, and neighborhoods have been erased. Although their ways of life have been interrupted in the most violent of ways, the people of Ukraine remain steadfast, determined and courageous.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his military leaders are equally tenacious, having held their ground in the face of a giant aggressor. The United States has sent air-defense weapons and ammunition supplies to Ukraine, but the Biden Administration has outwardly refused to get more deeply involved in the war.

However, after 21-year-old National Guardsman Jack Teixeira allegedly stole and leaked Pentagon documents revealing intelligence and national security information, it has become clear that America is more involved in the Ukraine War than most people realize.

The leaked files show that officials in Kyiv had big plans for the one-year anniversary of the Russian Invasion. Ukrainian Major General Kyrylo Budanov had made commands to ready his troops for a massive attack on the Kremlin in Moscow, both by land and sea.

Ukraine intended to display its military capabilities, but United States National Security Agency officials were listening. They feared a catastrophic response from Russia and convinced Budanov to hold back a mere two days before the planned attack. The documents do not detail Budanov’s last-minute reasoning for complying with the Americans, but his actions demonstrate the level of influence the United States has with Ukraine.

The Biden Administration worries that attacks by Ukraine on Russian soil could stir a dangerous response from Russian President Vladimir Putin. If the Ukrainians use weapons supplied by the United States, Putin could turn to nuclear weapons to retaliate.

Still, Russians have reported unexplained explosions on their turf, and Ukrainians have not denied their responsibility for those events.
