(NationalUSNews.com) — O.J. Simpson, who was an NFL star in the 1970’s and the center of what has been called the Trial of the Century after being accused of murdering his ex-wife and her friend, is once again in the news.
Simpson, who has faced legal issues multiple times in the last three decades, has attempted to remain relevant by sharing videos on social media, including the Chinese-owned app TikTok. In a video shared in early December, Simpson overlaid a comment from an ostensible fan, calling him “the slayer of the women.” It is a common trend on TikTok to make a video responding to specific comments, which Simpson did here.
In the video, he responds by saying, “You know, I don’t like to pat myself on the back” before pausing and saying, “Oh yes, I do” and laughing. Many of the comments on the video called it a confession, referring to the 1994 murder of Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. Some even pointed out that, due to double jeopardy laws, even if Simpson confesses to the murder of his ex-wife and Ron Goldman, he can’t be tried again for the case.
Defenders of Simpson claim that the video is a tongue-in-cheek reference to his relationships with women, but many believe it is a way of bragging about how he got away with murder.
Always wanting to stay in the limelight, Simpson shared a video on social media earlier this summer, offering former President Trump advice on his legal woes. Simpson said that during the multiple trials he’s faced, including the 1994 case for the murder of his ex-wife and his 2008 case for robbery that led to Simpson serving nine years in prison, his attorneys always told him not to talk about the case publicly. He called this the “best legal advice [he] ever received.”
Simpson, who is now 76 years old, was spotted in Las Vegas in November, leading to reports that he was walking with a limp and looked “frail.”
