Trial of Chad Daybell, Husband of “Doomsday Cult Mom,” Is Scheduled to Start

( — Chad Daybell, the husband of the infamous “Doomsday Cult Mom” Lori Vallow Daybell, will stand trial in the coming days for his alleged involvement in the deaths of his children.

Daybell’s trial could last longer than two months, according to some legal experts, as he faces murder charges for the deaths of each of his and Lori Vallow Daybell’s three children. Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow Daybell immediately after each of the three children mysteriously died and maintained his infamous wife’s innocence up until a jury convicted her for the children’s murders.

The Daybell case received national media attention due to the odd circumstances surrounding the Daybell children’s deaths. Both Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow Daybell publicly said they knew how to determine if someone was a “zombie” and believed that killing someone labeled a zombie was the only way to save them from being undead. Lori Vallow Daybell reportedly determined that each of the three children was a zombie and allegedly aided Chad Daybell in murdering them and hiding their bodies on the Daybell family property. The three children suddenly went missing sometime in 2020, prompting police to investigate the Daybell home, where they found each of the kids buried underneath the house’s yard.

Although the primary charge against Chad Daybell relates to his children’s murders, he also faces additional charges relating to insurance fraud and multiple conspiracy charges. Daybell allegedly lied about how one of his children died in order to receive an insurance payout. Daybell also allegedly conspired with his wife to plot out the heinous murders, which prosecutors claim both parents took an equal part in planning and committing. Daybell denies the validity of the charges against him and pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy, murder, and insurance fraud criminal charges.

Daybell’s attorney, John Prior, released a statement regarding the impending trial, claiming the infamous father wanted to explain the bizarre case and how his wife planned the murders without his knowledge or cooperation. Prior’s comments come as the judge overseeing Daybell’s case instituted a gag order on the accused murderous father’s case to prevent anyone involved in the highly-publicized criminal trial from discussing the case or any related details.

While Daybell maintains his innocence regarding his children’s deaths, his wife, Lori Vallow Daybell, claims that he acted alone and murdered each of the kids without her knowledge. The two parents originally started the criminal case together as co-defendants but quickly split their defense as each blamed the other for the heinous crimes. Prior described the parents as “mutually antagonistic” and said that a jury would have to pick one of the two parents to believe when determining Chad Daybell’s guilt. Daybell currently faces the death penalty and could be executed if convicted for his children’s murders.
