Whistle-blower Testimony Suggests Perjury by Garland and Others

(NationalUSNews.com) — The United States House Committee on Ways and Means is one of the most powerful and prestigious committees in American politics, with oversight of all taxation and revenue-raising measures, as well as social security and Medicaid. So when two whistle-blowers from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reached out to Ways and Means earlier this month with independent testimony implicating senior Department of Justice (DOJ) and IRS officials during the investigation into Hunter Biden’s finances, it was an important development.

Gary Shapley and another, unnamed whistle-blower testified before the Ways and Means Committee, to the effect that DOJ Attorney General Merrick Garland and IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel had lied to Congress about the extent of political interference in the Hunter Biden probe. Shapley, who was responsible for oversight of the tax investigation, alleged that the IRS violated normal regulatory protocols in ways that benefited Hunter Biden.

US Attorney General Garland had previously told Congress that there would be no political interference in the process of the investigation, but Shapley provided evidence that senior DOJ official Lesley Wolf tipped off Hunter Biden’s defence team when IRS agents were preparing a search of a warehouse in North Virginia. The DOJ even wanted to remove Hunter Biden’s name from all documents relating to the warehouse, a clear violation of protocol.

The second whistle-blower corroborated Shapley’s evidence, and also pointed out that IRS Commissioner Werfel had told Congress that there would be no retaliation against whistle-blowers. In fact, retaliation against the second whistle-blower was almost immediate.

Shapley also gave evidence about an incident where Hunter Biden threatened a Chinese businessman, saying in effect “you had better do as I say because my father (President Joe Biden) is sitting next to me” – something that DOJ officials failed to act on when the evidence was provided to them. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the White House pressured both the DOJ and the IRS to minimise the damage caused by Hunter Biden’s actions.
