Russia Is “Aware” of Putin Assassination Threats From Ukraine

(NationalUSNews.com) — According to a spokesperson from the Kremlin, Russian intelligence officials have taken note of various assassination threats against Russian President Vladimir Putin from Ukraine.

The spokesman in question is Dmitry Peskov, who spoke about the threats against Putin during an interview with Life, a Russian media outlet. Peskov said that Russian intelligence officials uncovered evidence of Ukraine threatening to assassinate Putin for his ongoing offensive against Ukraine, including threats from Kirill Budanov, the leader of Kyiv’s intelligence agency. Peskov referenced Budanov’s recent interview with Ukrainian media, where Budanov confirmed that Ukraine had taken proactive steps to kill Putin during his statement about the assassination threats.

Peskov claims that despite Ukraine’s attempts on Putin’s life, Russian intelligence has prevented a successful assassination attempt against the Russian president. Peskov’s comments likely refer to the various incidents of violence against Putin over the last few years, including an incident where an explosion occurred near Putin’s vehicle while traveling and a failed drone strike targeting the Russian president. Although Russia has previously denied the validity of reports about assassination attempts against Putin, Peskov’s comments seemingly confirm the reports about Putin’s close calls.

Peskov finished his statement by claiming that Russian officials have taken the appropriate precautionary measures to prevent a successful assassination of Putin and that any future attempts by Ukrainian forces would prove unsuccessful. Peskov’s comments come just days after a gunman tried to kill former President Donald Trump at a political rally in Pennsylvania, prompting various world leaders to discuss their close calls with nearly successful assassinations.

Russian officials have weighed in on the rally shooting, criticizing the Biden administration and other world leaders for supporting Ukraine instead of their security services. According to Peskov, Russia partially blames the Biden administration for the failed assassination due to President Joe Biden’s increasingly hostile rhetoric about Trump and his recent comments about the former president.

China’s President Xi Jinping shared a similar sentiment about the rally shooting, claiming that further acts of political violence could jeopardize the United States and result in a second American civil war. Despite Xi Jinping’s comments, both Trump and Biden have cited the shooting as evidence of the growing political divide within the country and called for national unity following Trump’s near-death experience.
