(NationalUSNews.com) — Vitamix is known for the exceptional quality of their high-performance blenders. However, on Thursday, June 20, the company announced a recall of about 569,000 Vitamix blending containers and blade bases.
The Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce clear blending containers are part of the recall. The recall is due to laceration hazards caused by the containers separating from the bases, which can expose the blades.
The company has asked that customers stop using the affected products immediately. There have been 27 reported incidences of lacerations related to use of the devices, although that includes incidents from the recall in 2018. The recall announcement specified the clear containers and the black blade bases, which are standard on specific models of the Vitamix Venturist and Ascent Series blenders. People should check their Vitamix blenders and stop using any of the specified models. Ascent models A2300, A2500, A3300, and A3500 and the Venturist model V1200 are all part of the recall. There were also some bundles or sets of Vitamix products that included faulty parts. The parts may have also been purchased separately.
Although the Ascent blenders sell for about $749.95 and the Venturist V1200 is listed at $549.95 on the Vitamix website, the company is not offering refunds or replacements. Vitamix is instead telling people to discontinue use of the blenders and contact the company for a repair kit. The kit includes detailed instructions as well as a protective plastic shroud to cover the blade base. Customers who repaired their Vitamix blenders after the 2018 recall may need the new repair kits as well.
These expensive Vitamix blenders have been widely available throughout the U.S. and Canada at various retailers. Consumers may have purchased them at Best Buy, Costco, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Macy’s, Target, Walmart, and some specialty stores between April 2017 and May 2024. They also may have been purchased on Amazon, QVC or directly through the Vitamix website. A spokesperson for the company has offered assurance that customer safety as well as the quality and durability of their products, are their top priorities.
